ROOM: maisonette for 5 in the new block by the new pool, 1 bedroom & bathroom/shower upstairs, 3 single beds, shower, toilet & kitchenette downstairs. All in excellent condition throughout. Linen changed 3 times during the week. Air-con in both rooms - 'free' although i'm sure its factored into the holiday price, we all know nothing is truly 'free' !!
POOL: hard to get beds at new pool as towels are put out before bedtime and there are not enough for number of guests. There is another smaller pool which is surrounded by more apartments in the older part of the complex.
FOOD: Didn't eat at restaurant so can't comment - a lot of Russian guests here are all inclusive.
BEACH: 5 mins walk, not huge but always beds available. Fantastic breeze so makes it bearable to lie in the sun in the scorching heat. The sea is lovely & clean and the waves are continuously crashing onto the beach making great fun for the children.
RESORT: hotel is situated 20 mins walk from Gouves centre but its along the sea front so theres a cooling breeze blowing as you walk in. There are lots of bars, restaurants & souvenir shops here and its also mainly along one central main street. The immediate area outside the hotel has a good few restaurants also if you don't fancy the walk every night. We ate in a different restaurant each night - favourites were Elotia & Sui Yuan chinese.
TRIPS: we didn't take any trips as having been to Crete before, we felt it had nothing new to offer and they are very expensive if booked through rep. The same trips can be booked in resort for much less. Our daughter & her 2 friends booked through rep to go to waterpark & it cost 90 Euro - I thought that a bit steep, but it was the handiest way to do it as we didn't hire a car this time. If you hire a car, its cheaper to drive yourself to waterpark & buy tickets there.
Overall, we really enjoyed this holiday, we couldn't fault much about it really.
