RIU Merengue

I have just one word to discribe this resort GREAT !!!!! the staff on the animation team are fantastic. they have fun with the guest from 10 am till the evening entertainment is finished, which at times is almost 12 am. the day time they organize games and the winners given prizes. i.e hats tea shirts (with the hotel name on) and adults often get a bottle of rum (local) the bar staff cant do enough for you, and have a lot of smiles and dancing and genral good fun, every one tries to help you enjoy your holiday. what more can you ask for ????? I am going again in May for the 15th time. can't be that bad can it ?????

Great

We visited this resort and thought it was great. The rooms were clean and tidy and the bathroom didn't have much ventilation which left a musty smell but once ventilated was fine. The pool was a good size. Entertainment was great for the kids. The staff couldn't have done enough to help. Local trips were ok but a bit expensive for the money you pay. Great views and a great all round holiday

RIU Merengue Review

We origionally booked to go to Mexico but chose this as an alternative this was our worst mistake. The food was of poor quality and variety you had the same food for breakfast lunch and dinner every day there was a themed night 3 times per week all that you got was an extra 2-3 dishes extra to choose from for the evening meal. You are able to use the sister hotels on the complex for breakfast and lunch but the food is the same and the quality and variety no better. The drinks are very poor there is no chance of getting drunk as they are watered down even the opics in the room. The rooms could do with updating but they are kept clean by the maids who leave towel art every day! The entertainment is very repetative during the day time and staff are not the professional the evening entertainment is a joke I have never seen so much rubbish. The pool is too small for the size of the complex and is not very clean the childrens pool is terrible the beach is okay you are not able to have long walks as you can walk from one end to the other in 15 minutes the sea is very rocky. I would never use this chain of hotels again and would only rate this no more than a 3*.
